BUSINESS UNIT MANAGER

Nathan has a background in emergency services and experience in the utility industry with power generation, gas distribution, and electrical transmission and distribution systems. He has 28 years of experience helping organizations deliver safety and operations focused training in high-risk industries. He received a Masters in Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management and holds several industry certifications including; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) Safety Management Specialist (SMS) Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP)

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Heather has a diverse background, which includes work in higher education, telecommunications, and the power industry. She has extensive experience in the area of adult education and professional development, supporting the delivery of training via Web-based course management systems, as well as providing one-on-one technical training. Her more recent work in project management for Northline Utilities afforded her a solid understanding of the unique needs of the utilities industry and the lineworkers it employs. Heather holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in technology management and human resource development from Excelsior University.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Brian has more than 24 years in the electrical industry. Brian completed the IBEW Inside Wireman at the (IBEW 728) and Outside Lineman (IBEW 1249) apprenticeships and is a current member of IBEW Local 1249. Brian teaches electrical theory for the Northeast NJATC, maintains a NYS class A CDL, hydraulic crane and Digger/Derrick license. When the schedule allows he can be found working in the tools on storm restoration anywhere from Maine to St Thomas, USVI.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Dennis has more than 20 years in the electrical industry with experience working for investor-owned utility companies and utility contractors. For the last 12 years he has worked in the Live-line Barehand field of transmission maintenance and construction. Dennis believes that hot stick or Barehand work method are a specialized discipline and require continuous learning to be proficient in the field.

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Jim McDonald brings over 53 years of experience in the power line industry, with 40+ years dedicated to field implementation of energized transmission work methods. He is widely recognized for his expertise in barehand transmission techniques and for pioneering the use of rope access methods in live line applications. His work has supported leading utilities across North America, including BPA, SRP, SDG&E, National Grid, Tri-State, ITC, TEP, WAPA, and SCE. As a Senior Advisor to Powerline Training Consultants, Mr. McDonald supports: - Comprehensive assessments of current live line training programs and infrastructure. - Recommendations for improvements aligned with best-in-class safety protocols and industry standards. - Strategic input on the design and functionality of energized and de-energized training environments. - Development and refinement of live line procedures, job aids, and technical documentation. - Mentorship of instructional staff to ensure continuity of expertise and instructional quality. - Collaboration with executive and technical leaders to integrate live line training into broader workforce development strategies. Mr. McDonald has authored numerous technical manuals and reference materials on live line procedures, barehand methods, and rigging principles. In 2020, he was inducted into the International Lineman’s Museum Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the industry.
